How Much Do You Love Your Company?

Do what you love, and you’ll never work another day in your life.

We spend a lot of time at work. The average working American will dedicate over 60,000 office hours to their career. Most of us have accepted that those 60,000 hours can only be so good. It is work after all. There are dress codes, office politics, tedious projects, or maybe even a coworker who microwaves fish for lunch every day.

So, what would you say if your company asked if you wanted to get a tattoo representing their culture?

We’re not talking temporary tattoo here… this is permanent.

Would you do it?

We Take Culture Seriously

For some companies, culture is a pool table in the breakroom or a Friday beer cart. For others, it’s feel-good buzzwords framed on walls.

Yes, we have that too. But the culture at Kasasa isn’t limited to perks and decorations. The culture here is a set of values that define the direction of the business and how we work. In meetings, you’ll often hear our values cited as reasons to do (or not do) something.

When discussing ideas, every employee is expected to give a “Yes, and when” or “No, and why” response. All employees go to a day-long “War College” to learn the history and purpose of the values. Culture is the way a company interacts with itself and its consumers. For us, our culture is the patch.

What Is The Patch?

The patch is a visual representation of our four core values. They are love, badassitude, interdependence, and 5-star leadership.

Love is represented by a heart. There are four areas; (1) love for the company (2) love for our clients (3) love for our coworkers (4) love for our consumers. This isn’t romantic love. It’s about assuming the best, being empathetic, and being will to do whatever it takes to delight.

Badassitude is represented by flames. This value is about working with intensity and delivering results that go above and beyond what most would consider “excellent.”

Interdependence is represented by the Spartan helmet. In battle, Spartans would build a wall of overlapping shields. This not only protected the individual, but the overlap protected their neighboring Spartan. Interdependence is about bringing that level of teamwork and trust in colleagues to your work.

5-star leadership is represented by 5 stars. The name comes from the highest rank one can achieve in the military and at Kasasa everyone has the same rank, regardless of title. With this rank also comes the right and expectation to challenge anything that gets in the way of delivering results.

Tattoo Examples

When I said that we take our values seriously, I meant it. Remember the question I posed at the beginning of this post; What would you say to a company tattoo?

Kasasa extends an offer to every employee; After working here for 6 months, you can get $2,000 if you choose to get the patch as a tattoo.
